STS Early Childhood Professionals

Our preschool academy teachers are passionate about educating young children. We bring valued knowledge about the community in which we teach and live, Kekaha, and the unique cultural values shared by our families, as well as the many resources available in our community that can benefit the school and students.

The Early Learning Academy staff models the same behavior expected of our children and families. It is with respect, caring, and dedication that we provide a nurturing environment for our children to learn and grow as Christians. It is our understanding that children learn through observation and action. By providing meaningful opportunities for our students to interact appropriately with their families, peers, upper-grade students, and community members on a regular basis, we hope to guide them toward developing a positive self-esteem, self-regulation, respect for others, and a communal sense of responsibility.

Our staff uses positive guidance techniques and logical consequences as a means of keeping harmony in the classroom. Children are encouraged to use their words and to think about their actions. We teach them the steps necessary to eventually problem-solve independently and with compassion.  Our daily routine provides the consistency and predictability that young children need to thrive in knowing that they are safe and loved by their teachers and peers.

To continue to provide a quality academy and be current on the new issues and trends in our field, we take advantage of every professional development opportunity offered on Kauai, while making every effort to attend ECE conferences statewide. Networking and interacting with others who share our passion and commitment to young children is important. We believe that learning helps us to grow personally and professionally, making us better able to serve the children entrusted in our care.
